YOUR RACING AGE IS YOUR AGE AS OF DECEMBER 31st, 2009 (not 2008).
Pre Riding: The course will be open for warm-ups at 8:00am and maybe 15 min. prior to each event if the racers from the previous race have finished. Gather at the Finish line and a course marshal will let you know when the course is open. Riding on the course during an event is prohibited and will result in disqualification.
You all know that getting more then one lap on the course once we start the 10:00am race is almost impossible. Your best bet to get a couple of laps in is to get there before 9:00am and ride the course then.
Pre Registration:
Pre Register Online or cough up $10 extra for race day registration: Registration is available online at www.bikereg.com. Online registration closes on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 3:30pm (EST). NO Race Day Registration for UCI races.
No Mail in Registration
Number pickup: Come to the Big TENT, it is open from 7:30am to 1:45pm, sign your release and pick up your number
If you do not register online you will have to pay an additional $10 late registration fee.
On Site Late Registration: NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION FOR UCI RACES. Late Registration and payment of the exorbitant late fee is at the registration Trailer which is adjacent to the Registration tent. The sole exception for day of entry late fee will be any racer in the 9:00am start block who purchases a one day license. One day license fee is $10. We will waive the $10.00 late fee in this case only.
Complimentary race entry will be given to the current MAC Series leaders of the Elite Men and Elite Women categories and to the current Cyclocross National Champions provided they wear their National Championship jersey (stars & stripes) and are racing in the category in which they won the National Championship.
Body Race Number: All racers receive 3 Numbers. Place Large Number on your Right Side do not fold it.
Shoulder Numbers: 2 shoulder numbers. You must wear both shoulder numbers the numbers must be visible from the SIDE. One number on the right shoulder and one on the left shoulder. You are permitted minor folding of the shoulder number just don’t make it hard to read. If at all possible put the shoulder number on parallel to cuff.
Start line Protocol: At Granogue Cross all classes will first go to the rider assembly area (aka the PEN) adjacent to the start line; you can not just roll up the start line it will be locked down. The PEN will open precisely 20 minutes before start time. Don’t be late. Listen for announcements just prior to your start time. If there are multiple classes then we will quickly sort you out, take care of call ups if any and place you on the start lanes. The process of sorting involves shouting with a bull horn and asking the racers to shut up. The start referee will give you race instructions on the start lanes. So when you get out on the start lane STFU. The Start lanes are clearly marked, one rider per lane, do not over lap the rider in front of you.
Call-up Protocol: MAC categories – Call-ups will be based on your current rankings as posted on the MAC Series website. UCI categories – Call-ups for the Elite Men and Elite Women current rankings as posted on the UCI Website: www.uci.ch
Note: There will be no call-ups for the (9:00 and 10:00 am race categories (U19 Juniors, C-Men, B-Women, B-Masters Women 45+, B-Masters 35+ and Master Men 55+).
Starting: At minimum we will give you a 30 second warning, 15 second and 10 second warning. At 10 seconds the Start pistol will be fired at random. Start on the Start pistol only. Persons who false start will be punished. Persons who false start in the UCI races will be pulled from the race and the field restarted (UCI Rule). In the UCI race if you hear the start gun twice then shut it down and go back to your start lane spot for restart.
No Prologue loop:
9:00 am start block (C Men, U-19, Master Women 45+, B Women, U-19 Women)
10:00 am Start block (B-Masters 35+, Master Men 55+).
When the start pistol is fired you will ride under the finish line truss and take left fork on the asphalt road through pit side 1.
Prologue Loop: All other classes from 11:00 on will use the prologue loop. On starting you will ride under the finish line truss and take the right fork on the asphalt on the prologue loop, adjacent to pit side 2. You will travel another 100 meters on the road and the prologue loop will curve left transition to grass, up a hill, flatten out and rejoin the main course about 100 meters from entrance of the pit side 2. You will ride through pit two and out to ride the top half of the course.
This is confusing, yes? Check out the two course maps below.
Lapped Riders:
Lapped Riders in UCI Events (UCI Rule 5.1.051): All riders lapped before the final lap must leave the race the next time they cross the finish line. The rider will be given a placing if he or she was lapped more than half way through the race. A rider who is lapped on the final lap shall be stopped at the beginning of the finishing straight line and shall be given a placing on the basis of his or her position.
Lapped Riders in Non-UCI Events: Lapped riders will finish on the same lap as the leaders. Riders in danger of being lapped must yield to oncoming racers and are not to interfere with their progress or trail behind them. The race officials have final call on who is pulled. We strongly reinforce with the race officials that we would like no riders pulled from 9:00 am to 11:00 am race class. In the races with cash payouts we are applying the lapped and out rule. This affects the 12:15pm start race (Elite Master Men) and of course the UCI races.
Pit: The pit is a double sided pit with a common work area between the 2 race lanes.
Pit side one is immediately after the finish line arch, Pit side two is after the green houses.
Exchange lane: The exchange lane is 3 meters wide and it is for racers only. Pit people are not allowed to stand in the exchange lane only the bike should be there. If you have to repair the bike, bike and rider should be pulled into the work area. DO NOT BLOCK THE EXCHANGE LANE.
Who is allowed in the Pit? Racers and 1 or 2 pit helpers. Do not hang out in the pit unless you are WORKING. The pit it is a work area only.
Prohibited in the pit: Washing buckets and Glass bottles, People just standing around.
Bike washing: Bike Washing is not allowed in the pit, all bike washing is to happen in bike wash area 30 meters from the pit. People washing active racer’s bikes can politely but firmly go to front of the bike wash line. Riders cleaning their bikes after racing must yield to race bikes.
Setting up your Equipment: Set up your stuff without messing up the equipment set for the current racers. Pull your stuff from the pit as soon as you are done racing. Don’t store your stuff in the pit. Don’t set anything in the exchange lane.
Post Race: Get you stuff out of the pit. OK? Thank you
Results: Results will be posted on the results board adjacent to Pit one. Results will be made final 15 minutes after being posted.
Awards and Podium: The top 3 finishers in every event must report immediately to the Registration Trailer after they cross the finish line for awards, photos and interviews. We will have water for you there. Make sure your support people know where to meet you. Podium presentations will vary by class, when you check in after your race we will update you on exactly when and where your podium will be.
Anti-Doping: Anti-doping is under the control of USADA in accordance to UCI regulations. The location of the Anti-doping area will be noted on-site. The race number of selected riders will be posted at 3 areas: the Finish Line area, at the Anti-doping control room entrance and the results board.
